Katherine's art is comprised of paint, canvas, paper, prints and media of many types but display a wealth of innovation that only a compulsive artist could portray. Multimedia gathered by trade with other artists, sale over years of exhibition in Southwest Ontario, Michigan and Europe, with permanent fixtures in the Detroit Institute of Art and many collections across those noted areas. Her undoubted skill lay particularly in paint on rice paper.
As a student of the schools of Riopelle, Taos and the Group of Seven, this exciting lady spread her boundless talent from her base in Winnipag and Windsor as far as private sales and her philanthropy would allow. Surviving on her consummate skill and entrepreneurial spirit.
In Katherine's own words: An image originates to a process, the painting is worked repeatedly from the reverse and front sides so that unique surface illusions and bonding techniques are achieved. Lyrical surface drawing appears. Non-perspective space is used to anchor the composition. The viewer is encouraged to interact with the paintings by using a magnifying glass to experience the subtleties of the various elements that comprise them.
